Installation Qualification (IQ)

Installation Qualification (IQ) covers all procedures relating to the correct installation of an instrument in its intended environment. It is a documented verification that all critical aspects of hardware and software installation have been completed correctly.

IQ establishes that:

• The instrument is received as designed and specified
• Installation has been performed according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements
• The selected environment is suitable for the intended operation of the instrument

Operational Qualification (OQ)

Operational Qualification (OQ) demonstrates that the instrument functions according to its operational specifications within the selected environment. OQ is performed following the successful completion of IQ.

The OQ process includes:

• Verification of operational functions
• Testing critical parameters and control tolerances
• Monitoring and evaluating data from indicators, gauges, and sensors
• Confirming the instrument operates consistently within defined limits

Performance Qualification (PQ)

Performance Qualification (PQ) demonstrates that an instrument consistently performs according to specifications appropriate to its routine use.

PQ provides documented evidence that:

• The instrument performs reliably across all anticipated operating ranges
• The system remains in control under normal working conditions
• The equipment is fully validated for its intended application

This assures complete confidence in the validity and ongoing performance of the equipment or systems supplied.
